Nattfjelldalen in the Varanger Peninsula National Park

In the open plateau landscape in the Varanger Peninsula National Park you will find the night mountain valley. A spectacular hiking destination, where the goal is the waterfall at the end of the valley. This is an attraction in itself and a trip we would highly recommend.

The trip to the night mountain valley

This is an idyllic day trip in the open countryside. The light terrain gives more people the opportunity to experience the unique nature. Even though it is one of the longer trips, you do not have to be used to hiking to embark on this trip.

Nattfjelldalen is a unique nature experience, and really worth the trip. After hiking in the open countryside, you finally reach the valley. Here you can choose to continue the trip in the open landscape, towards the fantastic view at the top of the valley. Or go further down the valley along the river towards the waterfall. It is also possible to continue the trip down in the valley, and then climb to the top by the waterfall, but it is a more demanding route.

Fascinated by Varanger, travel letter from Henrik Westermark

I have long wondered what draws me to Finnmark, and especially the area between Varangerbotn and Vardø.‍The area is not wild and magnificent in the same way as many other areas in Norway. It is a more calm and undulating landscape with lots of light.
